I’ve just returned from 2 days in Sydney for a pre-Olympics medical and performance team workshop.
The workshop location had terrific views from the window, and I looked at it any chance I had. “Imagine having this work view every day”.
But is it easy to take something for granted when it is your every day?
I find myself practising gratitude more frequently, admiring the sunrise/sunset I see and appreciating Canberra's beauty. I genuinely feel lucky to live in Canberra.
Perhaps it’s because expense-paid trips are new to me. Still, I found myself grateful for the accommodation we received at the Marriott Sydney Harbour, where I could enjoy a morning walk around Circular Quay and the flexible flight booking, which allowed me to move my flight and get home an hour earlier. Being looked after in this way makes you feel valued and cared for.
On top of that, the workshop was fully catered, with breakfast available when we arrived from our flights on Tuesday morning and a 3-course dinner on Tuesday night.
I’m grateful to meet my colleagues before the Olympic games. I think it will enable us to work collaboratively as a team and support the athletes efficiently and effectively.
